When you have guests over at your house you want them to feel comfortable. You don’t want them to stay forever, but you do want them to feel welcome while they stay with you. Creating the perfect guest room is easy and shouldn’t cost a lot at all, so it’s nice to know that a little bit of effort goes a long way in creating a good experience for your guests.

  1. Extra pillows and blankets. Because we all have different preferences, provide an assortment of heavier and lighter blankets, and fluffier and flatter pillows. Piling pillows on the bed makes it feel more decadent and hotel-like, and makes it more comfortable to read in bed.
  2. Storage. No one likes to live out of a suitcase, so give your company space to unpack- a small dresser and some nice hangers don’t cost too much and will help to keep the room neat. A luggage rack is also inexpensive and adds a nice touch.
  3. Bedside table. A bedside table is important, as well as what you put on it- like a lamp, a clock, and a box of tissues. A small vase of fresh flowers take it up another level.
  4. Making your guest feel at home. Give them your WiFi password, an extra key, a local area guide, bottled water, and some snacks. They’ll also appreciate books and magazines.
  5. Towels. Clean, fresh towels are a must- a small hand towel and a larger bath towel for each guest.
  6. Bathroom needs. Make sure there’s a supply of toilet paper, tissues, cotton balls, and Q-tips.
  7. Toiletries. Provide toiletries like shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, shower gel, and lotion. Travel size containers are fine, and you can put them in a basket or set them on a tray so the guests know it’s for them to use.

See- not hard to do and not expensive, either. It’s really just small details that make all the difference. You can have the nicest guest room in town!
