This #SpoilYourselfSunday, we’re preempting change-of-season skincare woes with facial treatments! Now, if you’re like me, you can’t afford (or don’t budget for) weekly, monthly, or even annual microdermabrasion appointments. No prob, mama! Here’s a DIY microdermabrasion treatment you can whip up in at home:
- Grab that box of baking soda from your kitchen and shake some out into a small bowl.
- Add 1 part water for every 3 parts baking soda.
- Mix into a paste with your fingers and apply to your face.
- Massage in a circular motion all over (careful around the eyes!) for a minute or two. If it starts to hurt, apply less pressure to your skin.
- Rinse off with cool water.
- Apply your favorite toner or press some ice cubes all over your face to tighten up those pores.
Now enjoy your fresh, clean skin! You can repeat this treatment weekly for best results, though if your skin is very sensitive you might want to be more gentle or go for less frequent treatments. For maintenance you should exfoliate daily with a less abrasive method, such as a washcloth with your favorite gentle cleanser, an exfoliating glove, a facial scrub, or a soft facial brush.
