Looking at the calendar, it’s been a few weeks since we celebrated the first day of the New Year. My New Year’s resolution was to stop telling people what to do. I’d like to think it’s going along well. How have your resolutions been coming along? A lot of individuals like to focus their resolution on bettering themselves; for example, they would like to go out and start exercising more. Does that describe you? PERFECT! Take this FREE Gym Pass from 24 Hour Fitness and read this list of items you should bring to the gym if you’re just starting out.

  1. Towel
A towel is about the most massively useful thing a gym-goer can have. Who said you have to keep all the sweat on your body when you exercise? If you’re entering the gym with the intent of having a strong, productive session, then you will want to bring a towel with you. Towels may not be offered to you at your gym. Also, a disgusting habit others develop while working out is not wiping down the equipment they used. It’s very inconsiderate and gross. Don’t be inconsiderate and gross.
  2. Wearable Trackers
Within the past few years, fitness trackers have been helping workout warriors track and graph their goals. Wrist wearables like Fitbit, Apple Watch, and Samsung Gear Fit, have made it incredibly easy for you to keep track of your miles ran or laps swam!
  3. Gym Bag
You never know what can happen at the gym. Maybe you want to focus on lifting weights, but at the last minute you decided “I’d rather go for a swim today”. If you pack your gym back with an extra pair of casual shoes or an extra water bottle, then you’ll always be prepared for the day ahead!
  4. Appropriate Shoes
Those who are getting acclimated within Fitness Culture may want to take note; it is incredibly important to have the proper footwear while exercising. If you attempt to exercise without taking that proper precautions, you’re leaving yourself exposed to foot or ankle related injuries.
  5. Sweatband / Hair Tie
Sweat means progress but it can sometimes distract you from your routine. If you have long hair, you may want to bring a few hair ties with you so that you can remove the possibility of getting sweaty hair sticking to your glowing face. If you have short hair, but tend to sweat more than others, then you can pack a sweatband to catch all the perspiration that’ll be sure to drip onto yourself. This is not a requirement though; feel comfortable in your skin! You’re working on bettering your health and nobody should judge you for that. We’ll just judge you for not wiping down the equipment after your sweaty self-soiled the stair stepper.
  6. Water Bottle
This is a key item to anybody leaving the house to exercise. While the gyms may be clean, friendly, and attentive to their members, why pay for water when you can bring your own? Any department store and supermarket will sell reusable water bottles, ranging from a 16-48oz bottles to large growler sized containers. Reduce, reuse, buy recycled!

Staying consistent and never losing track of your goals will allow you to achieve any personal goals you set for yourself. If you found these tips to be useful, share this with your friends!
