There’s nothing that can ruin your Sunday like a Monday! And I’ll just assume that I’m not the only one who’s finding this Monday particularly torturous- I can’t be the only one who hates Daylight Saving Time! It was dark when I woke up this morning, and I just feel weird in a way I can’t explain because of that one hour we lost early Sunday morning.

I posted this blog a few months ago, but because today is an especially horrible Monday, I thought it could help to run it again. It’s helping me, at least. Mondays can be tough, but they’re never going away! The best we can do is make ourselves hate them less. In fact, we can do better; here are some ways to make your Mondays awesome:

1. Plan well:

Planning for Monday takes away a lot of the stress. Take some time on Friday to prep for the next week and your Monday morning will be less frantic. Pack up what you need for the morning on Sunday night (including lunch) so you won’t have to scramble.

2. Get a good rest:

Get to bed early on Sunday night so you’ll be well rested for the week ahead. And don’t snooze when your alarm goes off- it only prolongs the agony!

3. Wear your favorite outfit:

Monday is the day for clothes and accessories you love. Wear your most fabulous pair of shoes, put on some lipstick! Dress in a way that makes you feel good about yourself.

4. Smile:

Oh, I know it sounds weird, but try it! There is actually scientific proof that smiling sparks happiness centers in your brain.

5. Do special things on Monday:

Have lunch with a friend, plan a movie after work, or anything that gives you something to look forward to.

6. Practice gratitude:

I know this one sounds sappy, too, but it also really works. Think of all the blessings in your life and you can’t help but feel happy. Who cares that it’s Monday?

7. Give your mood a boost:

Look at motivational quotes, or watch some funny videos.

8. Treat yourself:

Make Mondays special with little treats: a piece of chocolate, a latte, or anything you love.

9. Make the most of your commute: 

Read, listen, or watch something that you really enjoy on your way to work.

10. Meditate:

You can do this before you start your day, and at any time during the day when you need a little recharge. Just sit quietly for five minutes, close your eyes, and focus on your breath. This is great for relaxing and relieving anxiety.
