I think you’ll all love this post because it’s really good! Yup, no false modesty here, and that’s because I’m really proud of the info I have here for all of you who want to eat healthy, while at the same time stick to a budget. It’s possible to do it, and it’s not even hard when you stock your pantry with healthy foods that are all pretty cheap! You’ll always be ready to prepare a healthy meal or snack, and these food staples won’t break the bank. Most of them have a pretty long shelf life, too, so you can stock up when they’re on sale and save even more!

1. Dried beans and lentils:

There are a lot of portions in one bag of dried beans, making it a very cost-effective purchase. And beans are an excellent source of protein, fiber, and iron, which also means that a little goes a long way in keeping you full and satisfied. Beans make great soups, stews, salads and spreads.

2. Pasta:

Pasta is inexpensive in the first place, and it often goes on sale so you get an even better price. One box of pasta has about 8 portions, which makes it a very good value, and who doesn’t love pasta? Of course, whole wheat is a healthier choice, but if that’s not your thing, go ahead and enjoy the regular kind in moderation. Use it as a base for a nutritious sauce or salad.

3. Eggs:

Eggs are high in iron and protein. Great for breakfast or any other meal!

4. Oats:

Oats are a healthy source of whole grains and one box will last a long time. Store-bought granola can be expensive, but with oats as the main ingredient, you can make your own for a lot less.

5. Onions:

Onions are cheap and add life and flavor to almost any dish. And did you know that eating onions can improve your immune system and fight inflammation?

6. Dried spices:

A small jar of spice will last a very long time and go a long way to boost flavor in your food. Plus there are great health benefits to certain spices, too- like cinnamon and turmeric.

7. Peanut butter:

Peanut butter is a cheap and easy source of protein.

8. Rice:

Go for brown rice as a healthy choice. Eat it as a side dish, with stir fries, and in salads.

9. Apples:

Apples are always easy to find at great prices. They’re great for snacks and dessert and stay good for a long time.

10. Canned beans:

Canned beans are cheap, fast and easy to use. Buy on sale and they’ll be good for years.

11. Canned tuna:

A can of tuna doesn’t cost a lot and is high in protein. Watch for sales and eat in sandwiches, wraps, or added to salads.

Pretty good options, don’t you think? And with the money you’ll save, you’ll be able to treat yourself to an indulgent snack once in a while!
