This #ThrowbackThursday, it's also Christmas Eve AND National Eggnog Day! Many cultures have different ways of spicing up eggnog, but we decided to go for a healthy, low-fat, kid-friendly nog that the whole family can enjoy.

Healthy Homemade Eggnog
(adapted from The Gracious Pantry)Ingredients:
- 2 cups unsweetened milk alternative (soy, almond, or rice milk)
- 3 egg whites
- 1/3 cup honey or blackstrap molasses, xylitol, or other sugar substitute
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions:
- Add all ingredients to a blender and mix for 2-3 minutes.
- Pour the mixture into a sauce pan and warm over medium low heat for about 15 minutes; whisk constantly at the end so as to NOT let it boil.
- Remove pan from heat and let cool until it's cool enough to set in the fridge.
- Chill overnight.
- Blend with a whisk to make the eggnog a bit less thick; if it's too thick for your taste after a good whisking, add some extra milk bit by bit until you get it how you like it.
- Serve in festive mugs with a sprinkle of cinnamon and nutmeg on top for decoration!
