Call them dish towels or tea towels, but they’re the same. I’m talking about those thin, non-terry towels we use in the kitchen to dry dishes and wipe up kitchen spills. Well, get ready to have your mind blown, because that’s just the beginning; those towels can be used for so much more! Here are 14 really clever ways to use dish towels:
- As a placemat: Set the table using beautiful towels instead of placemats, or fold them to use as napkins. It’s creative and easy to just throw in the washing machine.
- Wrap a gift: Use a towel in place of wrapping paper! This is especially nice for DIY gifts and homemade foods.
- Dry and store greens: Place your lettuce and herbs on tea towels after washing. Keep them crisp by rolling up in the towel and storing in the fridge.
- Secure a cutting board: Place a damp dish towel under a cutting board or mixing bowl to keep it from sliding around on the counter.
- Guest hand towels: Because they’re so pretty!
- Line a serving tray or basket: Beauty and function!
- Give as a gift: Since dish towels are so useful, a nice set makes a great gift.
- Shelf liner: Use instead of paper shelf liner.
- Wall art: Hang a nice towel on the wall- framed or not.
- Cover rising dough: It will keep it warm and it won’t stick.
- Protect your dishes: Place towels between delicate dishes and serving pieces to protect them from chipping and breaking.
- Use as a trivet: This is nice to do when you use oven to table dishes that are hot. Fold the towel into quarters before placing the hot pan on it.
- Custom throw pillows: Create your own pillow cases out of beautiful tea towels.
- Dry your hair: These towels are super absorbent and can help you hair dry with less frizz.
And there you have it! I love it when you can use an ordinary home object in new, unique ways!
