Call them dish towels or tea towels, but they’re the same. I’m talking about those thin, non-terry towels we use in the kitchen to dry dishes and wipe up kitchen spills. Well, get ready to have your mind blown, because that’s just the beginning; those towels can be used for so much more! Here are 14 really clever ways to use dish towels:

  1.  As a placemat: Set the table using beautiful towels instead of placemats, or fold them to use as napkins. It’s creative and easy to just throw in the washing machine.
  2. Wrap a gift: Use a towel in place of wrapping paper! This is especially nice for DIY gifts and homemade foods.
  3. Dry and store greens: Place your lettuce and herbs on tea towels after washing. Keep them crisp by rolling up in the towel and storing in the fridge.
  4. Secure a cutting board: Place a damp dish towel under a cutting board or mixing bowl to keep it from sliding around on the counter.
  5. Guest hand towels: Because they’re so pretty!
  6. Line a serving tray or basket: Beauty and function!
  7. Give as a gift: Since dish towels are so useful, a nice set makes a great gift.
  8. Shelf liner: Use instead of paper shelf liner.
  9. Wall art: Hang a nice towel on the wall- framed or not.
  10. Cover rising dough: It will keep it warm and it won’t stick.
  11. Protect your dishes: Place towels between delicate dishes and serving pieces to protect them from chipping and breaking.
  12. Use as a trivet: This is nice to do when you use oven to table dishes that are hot. Fold the towel into quarters before placing the hot pan on it.
  13. Custom throw pillows: Create your own pillow cases out of beautiful tea towels.
  14. Dry your hair: These towels are super absorbent and can help you hair dry with less frizz.

And there you have it! I love it when you can use an ordinary home object in new, unique ways!
