If I had to guess the number one thing that holds people back from being their best, I’d bet it’s a lack of confidence. Lots of us just doubt ourselves and question our capabilities, but here’s a secret: you’re better than you think! Yes, you know more, and you’re more competent than you give yourself credit for! Life coaches and therapists will say you build confidence by going out of your comfort zone, and that’s true, but it’s hard to do. Here are some ways to get you on your way to more confidence:

1. Affirmations:

Yes, it sounds sappy, but it works. We believe what we tell ourselves, so if you regularly tell yourself how great you are, you’ll start to believe it.

2. Posture:

Stand up straight! You’ll look more confident and you’ll also feel more confident.

3. Challenge limiting beliefs:

Think you can’t do something? Prove yourself wrong and do it!

4. Look good:

Dress well and pay attention to grooming. You’ll feel so much better about yourself.

5. Stop negative self-talk:

Catch yourself when you’re putting yourself down or doubting yourself.

6. Think about your good and strong qualities:

Take some time and write down 10 things that you love about yourself.

7. Be kind:

Acts of kindness will make you feel good, and that will amp up your self confidence. And don’t forget to be kind to yourself, too.

8. Keep learning:

Keep learning and growing.

9. Set small goals:

You might have specific goals that seem scary, so break them up into smaller, more manageable goals and achieve them! Reaching goals is a great confidence booster.

10. Exercise:

Exercise is empowering and makes you feel strong.

11. Don’t compare:

We all grow at our own pace, and we all have our own strengths, so never compare yourself to others.

12. Have support:

Make sure to be around people who support and believe in you.

13. Fake it:

Fake it ’til you make it- it’s a good one.
