If you’re into health at all, you know that getting a good night’s sleep is one of the keys to good health. Sleeping well helps you feel healthy and happy, and having the right sleep environment is really helpful for getting a restful sleep. One of the ways to do that is to have the right things on your night table, making sure not to have too much, since sleeping in a cluttered space is not all that peaceful. Here are the things you need on your night table:

1. A lamp:

Ceiling lighting can be too bright when you want to relax, so a bedside lamp is something you should have on your nightstand. It’s also good for reading in bed. A book light is also a good idea if your partner wants light-out before you.

2. A book:

Reading in bed is a good way to relax, especially before sleep when you want to avoid the blue light from your phone or tablet.

3. Water:

You don’t want to have to go out to the kitchen if you get thirsty in the middle of the night, so take a glass of water with you when you go to bed.

4.Earplugs:

If you’re sensitive to sound (snoring partner, street noise, birds…), keep a pair of earplugs handy.

5. Notebook and pen:

I don’t know about you, but I get some really good ideas just before I go to sleep, or I think of things I must do the next day. If this happens to you, too, keep a pen and notebook on your nightstand so you can write it down and then relax. Also, journaling is a healthy way to end the night or start your day- and easy when you have the tools at your bedside.

6. Creams:

Keep hand lotion, body lotion, and lip balm on your nightstand so you can moisturize before bed.

7. Essential oils:

Essential oils are great for helping you to relax.

8. Alarm clock:

If you’re trying to stay away from your phone at bedtime, don’t bring it into your bedroom! Use an alarm clock to wake you up in the morning.

9. A pretty dish:

A small dish or tray will look nice on your bedside table, and it’s a good place to put jewelry and glasses before you go to sleep.

10.Tissues:

You never know when you’ll need a tissue, so a box of tissues is a nightstand must.

11. A small flashlight:

You don’t expect the electricity to go out, but it can happen. For safety it’s a good idea to have a small flashlight by your bed.

12. An eye mask:

Sometimes you need complete darkness to fall asleep- and that’s why you need a silky sleep mask.
