The main cool thing your vacuum cleaner does is that it cleans your carpets and rugs- and even hardwood floors. So it’s a pretty good bet that you have a vacuum cleaner. And even though you already put it to good work cleaning your floors, you can work it a little harder than that! Here are some cool ways to use your vacuum cleaner:
1. Find or pick up small objects:
If you lose something small, and easy way to pick it up- sometimes even find it- is to place stocking leg over the hose and turn it on. Run it over the area and it will pick up the object, but won’t suck it up because of the stocking!
2. Clean hard to reach spaces:
You can get to hard to reach places by extending the regular hose of your vacuum cleaner. Just attach a paper towel tube to the end of the tube and get to the spaces you can’t usually reach.
3. White noise:
Cranky babies seem to calm down from white noise, and a vacuum cleaner is perfect for that.
4. Prevent wall scuffing:
Doing a good vacuuming job means getting close to the edges and walls, but that also creates the risk of scuffing walls. Prevent that by covering the head of the vacuum with masking tape.
5. Fix carpet dents:
When you have a piece of furniture in one spot for a while it leaves its mark on the carpet. Use your vacuum cleaner to fix that! Place ice cubes on the dent and let them melt, then vacuum that area. The water will expand the fibers and the vacuum will fluff them up.
6. Freshen the air:
Place a few drops of essential oils on a cotton ball and add it to the dust cup. When you vacuum you’ll get the fresh scent into the air.
7. Relieve or prevent allergies:
A vacuum cleaner is the best way to remove pollen and other irritants. Vacuum around windows and doors every few days in heavy allergy seasons.
8. Prevent fire:
Vacuum lint traps and vents on dryers and other appliances.
9. Clean window screens:
A vacuum cleaner is the best way to do this!
10. Freshen your mattress:
Sprinkle your mattress with baking soda, leave it for a while, and vacuum it up. This works well on sofas and chairs, too.
